sad day for indiens

today i was having problem logging in to my 4shared account. tried several times and i thought i had forgotten my password but then again i was signed in the day before. so it's not possible that i'm that forgetful. then i checked my emails, that's when i found out,.. some of my files(mp3) that are associated with my posts has been move to the recycling bin just waiting to have confirmation from me to be permanently deleted!! apparently some of the bands i've posted here complained about copyrights or illegal posting. i could've done it myself if i was asked to. no big deal! here i thought i was trying to be helpful.. kinda like free promotions for the bands, i mean most of the posts here are either out of print nor it's still available in the market (unless it's a mp3 file) this blog is for record collectors only!! i'm just trying to help other collectors find what they've missed. and i'm sure i'm speaking on behalf of all record collectors when i say an mp3 file cannot, will not and will never replace an actual record or cd. so for me an mp3 is just as good as hearing music on the radio! i think you can appreciate music more if you have the actual and physical presence of an actual record or a cd!! and that's what i do! i discover music on the web thru blogspots then i buy the record no matter how expensive they are!! the point is... mp3 is not something you can touch or display or show to your friends and say i have it!!! actual records do.

acid house kings - pop look and listen cd 1992

don't let the name fool you.... not house but high quality indie pop songs. this band is really awesome! my first full length post!!! 12 brilliant songs. 'adorable' and 'thirteen again' just to name a few. they remind me of the legendary sarah records. my only regret is that i've never heard of them sooner than earlier!! get me.

the suncharms - tranquil day ep 1991

this is the 2nd release ep from the sheffield shoegazing band 'the suncharms' their music is very melancholy, heavily distorted guitar fuzzy pop songs!!!! i still think they were one of the 'greats' shoegazing bands of the early nineties!!! sorry 'bout the pops and crackles for this came from a vinyl record!!!

sharesprings - unclouded 2008

an ethereal band from indonesia, this band picked up right where slowdive, telescopes and perhaps ecstasy of st. theresa left of. their very much a shoegaze act, their music starts slow like and kinda pick the speed in the middle with guitar distortions and siren sounding vocal and etheriel keyboard mixed altogether at the same volume level, man...just close your eyes and float into space. tatally a daydream overdose!!

and also the trees - the house of the heart cd5 1988

one of my most precious possessions, a favorite song of mine. i just like the haunting vocal, the melody will take you into another world. an artsy, atmospheric instrumentation. they were very much influenced by the ideology of the burgeoning post-punk movement. they've actually toured with the 'cure' and became friends with bob and in fact lol tolhurst produced their 1st album simply called 'and also the trees'. thanx to my good friend gothic evil boy. if it wasn't for him i wouldn't have known this song.

passion puppets - like dust 1983

this is a special post only because the extended version of this song was never officially released on a 12'' record format. but it's your lucky day so, you get both versions (lp and extended). how did i get the extended version? funny you should ask!!! it is on a cd compilation called hardest hits vol. 1 and was also later on release on a us promo 12'' vinyl in 1984. and that's the last time we've heard from this band. i don't know any of their other songs but this one sure brings back memories...

ride - play ep 1990

ah... my favorite band of the nineties amongst other of course! this band changed the way i perceived rock music. 'ride ' and 'jamc' i think is the reason why the genre was created. they put the stamped in shoegaze as a landmark. i don't know why i took this long before posting something from 'ride'. well it's obvious that this wouldn't be the first blogpost out there, regardless, i'm still proud to share one of 'ride's earlier works.

los angeles lakers 2009 nba champions!!!!

how sweet it is. lakers did it again, this time without shaq!!! kobe named finals mvp, no doubt but they worked as a team. their chemistry is so amazing just like what the black mamba said 'we are like brothers here'. that, they are... brothers from different mothers! hopefully they can do this for several more years. and i hope no one was hurt during the celebrations in downtown l.a., and i do not wish anything bad to any of them!!!

go lakers!!!

the promise - glasshouse 12'' 1985

ah.. the beauty of synth wave, it all just come together on this one, a deep bass line, an occasional guitar, real dreamy synthesizer with a haunting vocal sometimes like that of a siren. really captures the essence of and ideal new wave song. the extended version is totally different from the original. it's so much better, hear for yourself.

the brilliant corners - teenage 12'' 1988

this has to be one of the best indie pop songs ever produced. the brilliant corners released a lot of good stuff before calling it quits in 1993. these guys are from bristol, england and started making their own orginal music since 1984. jangly guitar with trumpets and a very catchy vocal sounds almost perfect to me... only because nothing is. i will be posting more from them soon! meanwhile try a dose of indie pop! courtesy of yours truly..

fiat lux - blue emotion 12'' 1984

a great new wave band, released 4 or 5 12''s back in the early eighties. 'secrets' was probably their bread and butter as it gained them popularity back then. but i always think that 'blue emotion' is the better song. maybe it's just me!! well, judge for yourself. i will post 'secrets' later on... but for now enjoy this one, i also included the album version of this song here.

random single of the month

girl of the world was hailed from australia, their sound fit neatly into the twee side of the british pop underground. tim, bart, and cameron (like all good twee-poppers, they only use their first names) first got together in melbourne in late 1990, this was their first release the 1992 7" ep "travel"(a bit manchester-influenced beat) on parasol records. the group split at the end 1993 aftere releasing a couple more singles. bart and cameron went on to form the cat's miaow! in 1994. ~stewart mason, all music guide.
